From Fox Business yesterday, a little flat vs. fair:

Bonus equal time video - Since he's been enjoying a bump in the polls lately, here's Mike Huckabee singing the praises of the fair tax from 8 months ago:

While I'd prefer the flat tax, I'd take either over the current system. Realistically, though, either plan is going to be difficult to get past the left in Congress, who think that tax reform should include job-crushingly massive increases.

Almost all of congress will fight this. The reason is that they don't get to play "equity" games when everybody pays the same rate. Without this power, they lose one more tool to extort cash from the productive economy.

By and large I think you're right, Alan, but I think many on the right will be open to reform, even if initially resistant. The Dems, on the other hand, will fight tooth and nail against it with nary a defector.

It would be a great start - and getting a President who likes either flat or fair tax will shave years off the effort to get it passed.

By the way, Alan, I put you on the blogroll. Hope you don't mind.
